Representing physicians and certain allied health professionals in the practice of Orthopaedic Medicine.  This event brings together knowledgeable presenters who will deliver their presentations and share their expertise. 

This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by UBC CPD for up to 20 Mainpro+® credits.

Preconference 6.5CME credits (Perineural and Nerve Hydrodissection only) and 13.5 for full conference.

Ultrasound Guided Nerve Hydrodissection

0745 to 1700h — Meals included 

Drs. Jannice Bowler, Francois Louw, Jonathan Chow, Adrian Gretton and Eric Lavoie work through nerve entrapment syndromes systematically and guide participants in practising ultrasound techniques for nerves and locating nerve entrapment regions on each other.

Perineural Injection – The Lyftogt Method

0745 to 1700h — Meals included 

Drs. David Bowler, Jennifer Moss and Keith Weber investigate the effects of dextrose on peripheral nerves, and developed courses by method pioneer John Lyftogt.  This involves subcutaneous injections resulting in rapid changes in the chemistry around the nerve and resolution of nerve swelling and thus diminished pain.

Sport Medicine Ultrasound Canada – Ultrasound Scanning Training for Injections (2 Streams)

0900 to 1700h — Meals included

Dr. Frank Johnson from SMUC has partnered with CAOM to bring you ultra-high yield ultrasound scanning training for injections. 

Stream 1 is for those relatively beginner to MSK Ultrasound. This will review Shoulder Bursitis, Shoulder Arthritis, Elbow Arthritis, Knee Arthritis, Hip Arthritis, Ankle Arthritis.

Stream 2 focuses on those who have completed more than 50 ultrasound-guided injections and are very comfortable scanning and injecting all of the Stream 1 targets listed above.

  • What does my registration to the CAOM Conference include?
    Your registration includes all of the plenaries, breakout sessions, conference meals and activities on Friday and Saturday, including our celebratory dinner on Saturday evening. Please feel free to purchase a ticket for your guest to attend the dinner as well. A cash bar will be available. You will be on your own to explore nearby restaurants and enjoy your time in Victoria on Friday evening. Conference registrations must be purchased in advance and will not be accepted onsite. We are offering varying ticket types for members, non members, medical learners/residents, and one day tickets. If you are not a CAOM Member, now is your chance to become one and take advantage of all the benefits it offers.
  • Are workshops included with a conference ticket?
    Tickets to workshops are not included in your conference registration but can be purchased along with your conference tickets.
  • Where can I access updated information about the conference? Is there a contact person?
    All information related to the conference will be located on the CAOM website. If you require additional support, please see the Event Manager who will be visible at all times. In the coming weeks and right up to the event, emails containing further logistics will be circulated to you.
  • How do I book accommodation at the hotel?
    Please reserve your accommodation by Friday September 13th to take advantage of our conference rates within our secured block of rooms at the hotel, by calling Inn at Laurel Point Reservations Desk at 1.800.663.7667 or 250.386.8721, or emailing . Rooms are LIMITED so please do not delay! You can book three days pre-post event by calling to arrange using the information above. Please identify yourself as attending the CAOM Conference to qualify. Service fees and taxes will be added accordingly. Self parking is $24 per night. The parking garage is a secure area within close proximity to the hotel entrance.
